The Law of Attraction and Child Abuse

The law of Attraction provides that you attract into your life whatever you focus your thoughts on. That means that our life today is a product of our past thinking and our future life will be a product of our current thinking (putting aside for the moment the concept that there is only one time – Now). So if everything in our life today is exactly as we wish it to be, then our thoughts have been well focused and the Universe has rewarded us. But if there are parts of our life that do not give us the joy or satisfaction we would like, then we have some learning to do. Learning about the Law of Attraction can be one of the most exciting and rewarding undertakings we can do. Learning what has caused your current state of affairs and learning how to move from that state to a blissful state opens a door of limitless opportunities.

However, learning it also raises some hard questions that are not easily answered. These are questions that the Law of Attraction does not seem to address. Nor has The Secret addressed them.

The first such question that seemed so blatant to me stems from my years of work as a social worker. I have studied and worked in the field of child abuse and child protection. I have seen countless children who have been subjected to varying degrees and varying types of abuse. (I also was abused as a child.)

How does the child attract this abuse into her life? A child cannot focus on abuse until after it becomes a pattern. A child does not know punishment; a child does not know physical abuse until after it occurs repeatedly. A child does not know emotional abuse until after it has been experienced for a period of time. A child cannot focus on the punishment, abuse or neglect until after it comes to understand it at some level. This is when the child’s expectation of the treatment and fear of it set in.

And that fear and expectation cannot occur until after the child has knowledge of the possible treatment - which can only occur after experience. The younger the child, the less able to focus on the abuse; the less able to focus on what might happen. So how does the Law of Attraction explain the experiences of the child? The child can’t focus on what she doesn’t know – if, depending on her age, she is able to grasp any of the experiences at all. A child expects innately love, nurturing and protection. How does she attract it into her life? So far, I have seen the Law of Attraction to be silent on this issue.

People who believe in reincarnation might offer the explanation that the child attracted the abuse in a past life and karma is now catching up. Of course, there is no way of proving this to be or not to be a plausible explanation. Most things in our lives could be explained by such a focus. If you accept the philosophies of karma, reincarnation, karma bridging from one life to another, and intentions and attractions bridging from one life to another, then the explanation would be acceptable. If you don’t accept these philosophies, the explanation falls flat.

Another explanation is found in the concept that, since the child can’t invoke the Law of Attraction, the abuser intends and attracts the abuse. But is that possible? Does the Law of Attraction allow one person to attract actions that will directly hurt, possibly maimed, and in some instances kill another person? Will the law of Attraction work for one person while destroying another? If so, that is difficult to swallow.

Another explanation is that a child is just born unlucky. In other words it is the luck of the draw as to whether or not a child will be born into a family where she will be abused. This would be like a lottery, a random draw. That I also find unacceptable.

Although I can give many theories of and reasons for child abuse that do not relate to the Law of Attraction, I am at a loss to explain child abuse from The Law of Attraction perspective. In fact, I am just at lost if I try to explain any development or preference of any young child or baby.

Maybe I don’t understand The Law of Attraction completely enough. I have no difficulty applying it to adult – even teenager and preteen children. I accept its working but I have difficulty wrapping my mind around its application with young children. I have the same difficulty when applying it to people with diminished intelligence or brain functioning. So I am struggling with these issues and I appreciate any discussion and enlightenment that might be directed my way.

The Law Of Attraction and Cancer

Discussions involving the Law of Attraction or the Secret of Attraction predominately revolve around money and wealth. However, wealth is only one aspect of life. Health is of greater daily concern to us than is wealth but it does not appear to receive the same attention.

The Law of Attraction applies to all aspects of our lives including our health. We attract our state of health just as we attract our state of wealth. This attraction is, for most people, usually by default. While we are usually cognizant of attracting good health into our lives by our activities and philosophies, we are usually totally unaware of attracting disease into our lives. Very few patients with whom I have dealt have stated initially that they knew they created their disease.

Cancer is one of the areas where I spend a lot of time with patients, families and medical staff. As I ponder the Law of Attraction, I often think about the universal focus on cancer. Cancer is a hot topic. The treatment of cancer is a hot issue. The medications for cancer treatment are an expensive issue. Newspapers, radio stations and television stations regularly carry articles and programs about some aspect of cancer. Governments feed more money into cancer research and treatment. Pharmaceutical companies develop more expensive medications for its treatment and make more and more money. Physicians specialize in its diagnosis and treatment. Treatment teams are set up to work with the cancer patient and his family. Public forums are held and even court battles are fought over one type of cancer being given preferential treatment. And the incidence of cancer continues to escalate!

Why? Why, with all the focus on cancer and the enormous amounts of money being spent, does the incidence of cancer continue to rise? With all the expensive treatments, why do people continue to have recurrence of their cancer? Why do some families appear to be magnets for the disease while others appear to be immune?

Certainly, I believe, environmental issues play a large part in the development of cancer. Genetics play a part. Lifestyle, eating habits and smoking all play a part. But what about the Law of Attraction? Does it somehow explain the increasing incidence of cancer throughout the world.

The Law of Attraction requires three steps: ask, believe and receive. According to The Law of Attraction, the universe will give us exactly what we ask for. Is not the attention that we give to cancer in a way sending a message to the universe that we are asking for more (is not preparing for it asking for it?)? Is not the ongoing devotion to the business of cancer telling the universe that we believe we are ready to receive more of it. We are receiving it with open arms!

I am not suggesting that any individual wishes to have cancer. Nor am I suggesting that we should stop our research and treatment or our funding for such. That would be foolish. I do notice that very little emphasis is placed on prevention. As a society, if we were not ready to receive cancer, would we not be taking steps to get rid of the environmental and publicly promoted lifestyle and eating habits that we know contribute to cancer?

I believe the Law of Attraction adds a viable explanation to the increasing rates of cancer (as well as many other diseases) in our society. I believe it applies at both the macro level and the individual level. I expect little significant change will occur at the macro level and that it is up to each individual to apply the tenets of the Law of Attraction to their own lives to protect themselves. I do not believe our governments, industry or large institutions have the best interest of the individual in their focus. Thus we must learn to protect ourselves from these diseases by every means possible.

Creating Wealth Lesson 5

Lesson 5 in the mini series Creating Wealth has been posted at Wealth Booster. This provides a primer in the quantum physics aspect more than the other lessons and ties in well with the Secret (Law) of Attraction theory. It addresses changing your perception towards wealth and money and preparing to accept wealth into your world.

The Third Lesson

The Secret (Law) of Attraction works in all arenas of our lives - from health, relationships, love life to wealth. Although most of us focus on wealth and riches as being our primary concern, the other areas rank equally. If we feel lacking in any of these areas, we need to learn how to turn our thought processes around so that we possess the good health, the great relationship, the encompassing love life and the extraordinary wealth in our consciousness before we possess it physically. By the Law of Attraction, the universe will, in fact must, manifest for us that which we already possess in out thoughts and actions. That does not mean to spend to the limit in hopes of the arrival of the riches. But it does mean to start the process in all areas. Nothing will come if the groundwork is not laid and the groundwork will not be laid if you don't see yourself already possessing the thing you wish. Learning how to make the transition to this way of thinking and seeing things is crucial.

Getting What You Want

Who calls the shots in our lives? We do; each and every one of us – but we don’t always realize it. We don’t always realize that we attract the things we want and we attract the things we don’t want. Given the choice, we would all want to attract the things we want.

Whether it is health, relationships, wealth or business, we set the stage for the state we will reach in each of them. How often do we blame another person or some other happening for our lack of success in some area of our lives. How often do we say it was just bad luck or it wasn’t meant to be or it wasn’t in the cards. How often do we say that life just sucks or we came from an abusive background or a background of poverty or from a background of insufficient education. How often do we blame some other factor for our shortcomings?

If only every person accepted that these conditions can be easily overcome by knowing how to attract the lifestyle we wish to have, life would be happier and more comfortable for everyone.

However, we don’t realize how we create; we don’t realize that we create a condition in our life by not wanting it just as much as we create it by wanting it. Often we don’t accept or even realize the extent to which we are responsible for the things that happen in our lives. But we are totally responsible for every aspect of our lives. Where we are today is a product of our past thinking and where we will be tomorrow will be a product of our present thoughts.

Since our subconscious mind does not distinguish between what is real and what is imagined, it is important to know how to feed the subconscious the thoughts necessary to develop and manifest the things that we really desire. It is important to learn how not to feed negative thoughts and how not to focus on the things that we don’t want. Gaining knowledge in the area of attraction produces great benefits.

"There is nothing more powerful than living a life of inspiration and mastering the art of manifesting through the law of attraction. Now Inspired Attraction can empower you to fulfill both inspiring objectives. "
Dr. John F. Demartini

Enhancing our lives and the lives of our family should be a primary goal for each of us. Learning the process of Attraction is probably the most worthwhile activity we can do.

May your day be one of health, happiness and prosperity.

Inspired Attraction

Do you know the Laws of Attraction. Some people believe the Law of Attraction has been kept a secret over the years. I'm not certain I accept that premise. I do not believe there has been a Secret of Attraction. I believe we have all been using the Laws - some of us being more attuned and accepting than others. No matter how we are attuned, however, we always get what we focus on - we attract that which we dwell on.

I know that I have used the Laws of Attraction throughout my life but it is only recently that I have really learned to use them in a deliberate and focused manner. The results have very surprising and, I must admit, very rewarding. Inspired Attraction has transformed me from half heartedly muddling through a thinking about things I would like to have to deliberate focusing, intending and creating what I wish to have in my life. I used to be like a cement wall with my "don't be so silly" attitude. Now I wish I had not been so tunnel visioned for the greater part of my life. But I am happy that I accepted the invitation of others to explore and I agreed to do so with an open mind. My cash flow has taken a serious turn for the better.

Have a wealthy, healthy and prosperous time.
